Not only did I improve around and on the greens, but it also made the rest of my game better, because I knew if I got in trouble, my short game would be there to bail me out. It really freed up my swing and allowed me to become a very aggressive scorer.
From then on I realized that I had been approaching the game of golf all wrong. My long game was decent enough to where I hit 1/3 of the greens on the course and being someone who only played once a week or so, I didn't think that was going to get much better.

So I continued to work on my pitching, chipping, bunker play and my putting most of the time, and hit the driving range a couple of times a month. I saw a few teachers, read a bunch of books, and developed my own playing style around the greens that allowed me to perform consistent movements from basically anywhere around the greens.
I studied and learned from the top players in the world. I even went as far as to read psychology books to figure out why I couldn't stay focused over my shots. I eventually got to a point where I figured out how to tune everything else out and just let my skills take over. The end result was an incredibly efficient short game.
